Windshield Photography

Family road trips have always been a bit problematic as my family exhibits low tolerance for my incessant demands to stop and shoot.  To mitigate this issue, I have taken to the pursuit of what I call “windshield photography.”  Best undertaken while riding shotgun — for rather obvious reasons — I can alleviate long stretches of interstate highway boredom by taking camera in hand.  Challenging, this, shooting through an extra layer of glass can reduce contrast and perceived sharpness and is fraught with the perils of handheld slowish shutter speeds in an unpredictably moving, bouncing vehicle.  Nevertheless, it keeps the complaints at bay and at least lets me scout possible future shooting locations.  Some examples …
