The Tess Experiment

Grand-niece Tess, formidable young writer/photographer, sent me some results of her test of expired color film.  I had passed on to her a bunch of old film rolls, ranging from thirty to fifty years of age that I recently found packed away in my studio.  Here is one example, replete with unexpected red speckles, that she sends back of her experiment:

So I made a dozen or so variations — mostly exploiting and emphasizing the red “noise” — but I also was curious about how soft I could make a small crop from the image when I deliberately tried to get rid of those spots. Here’s the result:
