Remembering Ali and More

While reading the New York Times Magazine‘s remembrance of notable people departed during 2016, one of its accompanying photographs was this by Gordon Parks, probably my favorite portrait of Muhammad Ali.

The magazine also asked photographer Mitch Epstein to make a photographic record of the places where some of these people lived before their deaths.

Dennis Stock and James Dean

Last night, I watched “Life” on Netflix, a biopic about photographer Dennis Stock and his relationship to actor James Dean.  Knowing a bit about the real-life story, I eagerly plunged into the somewhat disappointing, as it turns out, film.  However, I later tracked down this 2009 New York Times article and video on the subject:
