Boston (1972)

For the Blast-From-The-Past department.  Just running across this 1972 (Quincy Street Market?) photo brought to mind my 2019 street photography book, BOSTON 1972, produced in three hours.   That project took place just about the time I was to re-intersect with one James Friedman again, after our initial 1973 meeting.  I like to think that the Boston photographs had something to do with the serendipity around my friend Jim — he was a student and protege of the legendary Minor White at nearby MIT, after all.  Many images of Jim, contemporary and otherwise, now are on this site’s pages (just input “friedman” into the search box at the top right of this and most other pages on this site).  He became a key figure in my “Dead and Near-Dead ...” and other book projects.  To learn more of Friedman’s illustrious career, see this.
